An emergency declaration and two kilometre exclusion zone remains in place at Julia Creek following the derailing of a freight train yesterday morning.
The emergency situation, declared under the Public Safety Preservation Act at 11.35am yesterday, covers a two kilometre exclusion zone around the crash site, which is located approximately 20km east of Julia Creek.
The Flinders Highway remains closed in both directions between Julia Creek and Richmond as a result of flooding and the exclusion zone.
The Queensland Police Service continues to work with other emergency services, Queensland Rail and government agencies to manage the situation.
