Serious traffic crash, Silkwood

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating a traffic crash at Silkwood that has left six people injured, including a 20-year-old with severe head injuries.

Initial information suggests shortly before 3.45pm, a four-wheel-drive vehicle heading north on the Bruce Highway lost control and rolled several times on the road surface.

All six occupants in the vehicle have been transported to Innisfail Hospital, five with minor injuries and one, a 20-year-old female rear passenger, with critical injuries.

The 20-year-old is expected to be airlifted to Townsville for intensive treatment.

The vehicle was driven by a 51-year-old woman, with the other passengers being a 20-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, an 8-year-old girl and an infant child less then a year old.
