Update – fatal traffic crash, Cairns

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal traffic crash in Cairns this morning.

Initial investigations indicate a utility was travelling south on Sheridan Street when it left the road and struck a man on the pedestrian footpath of Sheridan and McKenzie Streets just before 11am.

The pedestrian, a 45-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital.

Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Cairns police on (07)
