Departmental traffic crash, West Ipswich

A police officer sustained minor leg injuries during a departmental crash in West Ipswich last night.

Around 11.15pm, two police vehicles attended Brisbane Road following reports of an armed person.

During the incident a police car rolled forward hitting a 43-year-old male constable who sustained minor injuries to his legs.

A 35-year-old man who was standing next to the vehicle was knocked backwards by the car as it rolled forward, but was not injured.

Both were transported to Ipswich Hospital as a precaution.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of a knife and was to appear before the Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning.
