Armed robbery, Palm Beach

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store at Palm Beach in the early hours of this morning.

Around 2.45am a man has approached the front doors of the Gold Coast Highway business which were locked at the time. The store attendant unlocked the doors and the man walked around the store for a few moments before approaching the counter and producing a knife while making demands for money.

The store attendant handed over money from the till and cigarettes. The offender fled the store only to return moments later and demand more cigarettes. The store attendant handed over more cigarettes and the man fled the scene and was last seen running in a westerly direction along Nineteenth Avenue.

He is described as around 18 years of age, Caucasian appearance, 165cm tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, black shorts and dark tinted sunglasses.
