An 18-year-old Varsity Lakes man is assisting with police enquiries following the assault and robbery of a man walking along Remembrance Drive at Surfers Paradise this morning.
Around 2.30am, a 23-year-old Surfers Paradise man was walking when he was approached by a man who attempted to rob him of his possessions.
A struggle occurred at which time the other man allegedly produced a firearm before fleeing with the 23-year-old’s phone.
Police located and detained a man sitting outside a Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach, address a short time later, following preliminary investigations.
The 23-year-old sustained only minor injuries.
