Discharge of firearm, Wavell Heights

Police are investigating the discharge of a firearm into a van parked outside a residence in Wavell Heights last night.

A single bullet hole was discovered in the van this morning after residents reported hearing gun shots about 7pm yesterday.

No reports of further damage or any injuries have been received.

While there is no intelligence to suggest police were the target in this incident, the damaged van is similar in appearance to some Queensland Police Service speed camera vehicles.

The QPS has therefore warned officers to exercise caution when performing speed camera operations.
