Cairns detectives yesterday charged a 50-year-old Redlynch man with one count each of unlawful stalking and common assault.
He will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 13 July.
It’s alleged the man was responsible for the attack on a 20-year-old woman near the Tennis Courts on Rocks Road, Redlynch on June 19 at 10am.
Investigations are continuing.
Officers would like to thank the co-operation from the Redlynch and wider community and local media.
Queensland Police continue to appeal for the good Samaritan to come forward. A man in his 30’s was working at the horse stables at about 10am Tuesday 19 June at Rocks Road and came to the aid of the young woman allegedly assaulted at the tennis courts. This man is not a suspect and police urge him to contact them.
Police would also appeal to the man who was throwing a tennis ball to his dog near the tennis courts around this time to also make contact with detectives.
Anyone else with information which may help detectives in this investigation are urged to contact police.
Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.
