Serious assault, Surfers Paradise

Police are investigating the alleged assault of a man in Surfers Paradise early this morning that has left him in a critical condition.

At around 4.10am police responded to reports of a disturbance on Surfers Paradise Boulevard between Elkhorn and Cavill avenues.

Upon arrival, police found the 47-year-old Helensvale man lying unconscious with serious head injuries.

He was transported to the Gold Coast Hospital in a critical condition.

A 22-year-old Coombabah man and an 18-year-old Parkwood woman were charged with public nuisance and are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on July 10.

Police investigations into this matter are continuing.
