Update, fatal traffic crash, Mapleton

A 75-year-old local man has died after a single vehicle traffic crash in Mapleton this afternoon.

Preliminary enquires indicate the man was driving along Nambour-Mapleton Road when his vehicle left the road and collided with a tree at around 4.15pm.

The man, the sole occupant on the car, was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition but has since died from his injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
