Police have charged a man and a woman after two police officers were injured during an incident in Mackay this morning.
Around 1am, police were assisting security on Macalister Street with the removal of a man from a license premises.
It will be alleged while the man was being removed he punched a male police officer several times in the face. A female police officer was also punched in the face by a woman who allegedly intervened in the altercation.
Both officers were taken to the Mackay Base Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
A 28-year-old Ooralea man has been charged with serious assault police.
A 21-year-old Ooralea woman has been charged with serious assault police and obstruct police.
They are both due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow.
